Thanks to everyone who made it to the zoom town hall to find out more information about the upcoming hockey season with SPMHA. If you missed it, you can watch at https://www.spmha.ab.ca/spmha-start-of-season-plan/ and find the related documents on the website at https://www.spmha.ab.ca/covid-return-to-play-info-2/.
The mini-team lists will be released September 25th, and ice times will follow in quick succession. This allows time for the Kings to release players back to our association and to have them placed within a cohort, on a mini-team. All players who have been involved in another cohort (hockey or another sport) should take 14 days before joining their mini-team. This may require them to miss an ice session or two, but it will have no impact on their placement and spot within their cohort.
The timing of this developmental season is based on information from Hockey Alberta and Alberta Health Services. We are currently conducting coach interviews and are stressing the importance of development, engagement and fun during this period. We want to ensure our kids are happy to be back on the ice.
We all remember how quickly everything was shut down in March and I know a lot of families missed being around the rink. The developmental season will be an excellent opportunity for our players to see their friends again and get back on the ice in a safe environment. Please be sure to follow all protocols set out by the association so that we can continue to play.
